279 letters and summaries, 228 are autograph letters of Cosimo III, son of Ferdinand II, to Alessandro da Verazano. Verazano seems to have been an envoy of Cosimo in Venice, but chiefly involved with affairs of the Holy Roman Empire rather than relations with the Republic of Venice. Verazano seems to have interleaved drafts or preĢcis of his letters (49 items) with those received from Cosimo in response.
