Biography/History:

Kornfeld, a German Expressionist writer, was born in Prague and was a childhood friend of Franz Werfel; from 1925 onward he was a dramatist in Germany, first in Berlin under Max Reinhardt, then for a time in Darmstadt and later again in Berlin. With the rise of the Nazis in Germany, he returned to Prague in 1932; he died in a concentration camp in 1942.

Summary:

Mentioning the purchase of the Leipziger Theater by Kurt Wolff, Kornfeld appeals to Werfel to use his influence with Wolff to help him get hired at the theater, as a dramatist, stage director, or assistant in these areas. (At that time Werfel was an editor at Kurt Wolff Verlag in Leipzig.)
