Rudolf Mengelberg, musicologist and composer, was the director of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam; he was a nephew of Willem Mengelberg, who was a friend of Alma Mahler. Laqueur was apparently an acquaintance of Rudolf Mengelberg and of Alma Mahler.
