Summary:
The ChEBI is a dictionary with a controlled vocabulary for looking up information about a chemical entity of interest. The database includes natually occurring and synthetic small molecular entities. ChEBI uses nomenclature, symbolism and terminology endorsed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the Nomenclature Committee of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NC-IUBMB). It combines information on small molecular entities from three main sources to create a non-redundant resource: small molecules from the EBI's IntEnz database of enzymes, the COMPOUND database from the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG), and the Chemical ontology.
