Appearing in the second edition, Wotton's discussion of Servetus' Discovery of the lesser circulation, and his translation of certain passages (pp. XXV-XXXIII), which only appear in this edition. (Cf. booksellers' note).
Added, with separate pagination is the first ed. of Dr. Bentley's Dissertation ..., in which he proves that the "Aesopian" fables were not the work of Aesop, and that the Leters of Phalaris were a forgery of a later age. (Cf. booksellers' note, Printing and the Mind of Men 178).
Bentley's Dissertation was also issued with Wotton's Reflections on ancient and modern learning, the second part, 1698 (Wing W3660), and may also have been published separately (Wing B1928).
The words "Phalaris, ... Socrates," and "Euripides; ... Aesop's Fables." are each bracketed together on title page.
