An early film by India's leading documentary filmmaker, Anand Patwardhan that presents the human rights situation in India during the State of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from June 1975 to March 1977. During the Emergency over 100,000 people were arrested without charge and imprisoned without trial, but even after the Emergency was lifted, political prisoners continued to be incarcerated.
