Performed primarily by women, who fast for personal gains such as the wealth of grain, sons and grandchildren, and the like. Section (khaṇḍa) of the Skandapurāṇa from which the text aligns itself is named Nāgaravarṇakhaṇḍa in an internal colophon (f. 5r), which likely is another name for the Nāgarakhaṇḍa.
