Bloteling: in the midst of Egyptian monuments stands the three-faced statue of Isis; on the left two female sphinxes; at right, almost seen from behind, sits the artist wearing a beret and wrapped in a cloak; he looks out and holds a drawing board on his knee with his left hand.
Engraved title vignette: device of printer Andreas Frisius, depicting an old man reading several books at the same time, with motto "Optimi consultores mortui" (The best advisors are the dead).
Woodcut initials, tail-pieces, numerous intaglio illustrations in text.
