The first document is a folded leaf with ms. bibliographic notes in brown ink about José Manuel Marroquín's texts Doctrina christiana en lengua guatemalteca, 1724, and Doctrina Christiana en lengua Utlateca, 1556, signed "Berendt" at foot of leaf. The other document is an ms. letter of two leaves, to the "Hon. Buck. Smith" (Buckingham Smith, 1810-1870), dated at head "New York July 26th, 1868" and signed "Dr. H. Berendt" at end, requesting that Smith look for several texts for Berendt in libraries during his upcoming trip to Spain.
