Biography/History:
American poet, educator, essayist, and translator. Williams was born in Newark, New Jersey, attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, Bucknell University, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts. Williams has published numerous volumes of poetry and received several awards including the Pulitzer Prize for poetry and National Book Critics Circle Prize. Williams has taught at several colleges and universities. He was a professor of writing at George Mason University and has been a lecturer at Princeton University since 1995.
Summary:
This small collection comprises four items by C. K. Williams. The first item is a letter to his friend and fellow poet Stephen Berg regarding a donation of his manuscript "House" for an American poetry review fund raising event. The second item is various edited and annotated versions of Williams' poem "House" with the final version signed by Williams "C. K. W. Paris, Sept. 2, 1997." The third item is a first edition of Williams' volume of poems entitled Repair published in 1999. The fourth item in the collection is an issue of the American poetry review, September/October 1996, with a feature article regarding Williams and the publication of six of his poems.
