Summary:
Collection of 47 hymn tunes and accompanying lyrics included on the lower portion of the page beneath the music notation. The entire manuscript is written in a very neat and professional single hand. There is also some use of shape-note notation (p. 81-82, 84-90). The hymns are one to four pages long and span 90 pages, followed by an additional 38 pages of blank staves hand-ruled in ink, with the exception of an incomplete piece of notation that was begun on p. 92. Also includes a partial alphabetical index at the beginning. Bookseller's description notes that the book appears to be homemade due to the poor quality of the half leather binding and the inefficient use of paper by using partial sheets as indicated by the watermarks on the pages near the end. There is an inscription on the inside upper cover that reads: "B. Skinner. Dec. 20th 1806".
