Two sisters, Pepita and Hortense, must endure the terror and hardships of Franco's fascist regime. Hortense is pregnant and in prison, always wondering when she will be sentenced to execution as she sees her fellow inmates being led off. Pepita tries to live and love in the midst of fear for her sister.
