Biography/History:
One of six children born to Isaac Wetherill (1753-1821) and Rebecca Deacon (1757-1802) in Burlington, New Jersey. Thomas Wetherill married Rebecca Lippincott (1785-1858) in 1810 and the couple had at least two sons John Wetherill (1814-1893) and Christopher Wetherill (1815-1891). Christopher married his first cousin Anna Wetherill (1817-1903), eldest daughter of George Deacon Wetherill and Rebecca Cowpland.
Summary:
Hand-sewn booklet of folded ledger leaves handwritten on the long side of the pages comprising receipts of debts paid by the administrators of Thomas Wetherill's estate. The booklet spans the years from 1848 to 1849 with payments made to relatives such as William Deacon, Joseph Deacon, and Rebecca Cole. Other payments fulfilled debts such as a newspaper subscription. Each payment is written and signed by the recipient. The receipts are on the first five leaves. The remainder of the booklet is blank.
