Provides an overview of U.S. relations with Vietnam between 1975-2006, reviews the economic and political situation in Vietnam, and discusses pertinent legislation. Follows developments between 2000-2006, including reciprocal summits, U.S.-Vietnam economic ties, U.S. bilateral economic assistance, human rights and religious freedom, political and security ties, and issues relating to U.S. prisoners of war and military personnel still missing in action from the Vietnam war era.
