Report assessing plans for restoring capabilities that were removed from National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System, a satellite system designed to integrate the satellite needs of NASA, NOAA, and DOD, and geostationary operational environmental satellite-r (GOES-R) series acquisitions, and examining Federal efforts to establish a strategy for the long-term provision of satellite-provided climate and space weather data.
GOES-R is a new series of meteorological satellites developed with NASA assistance that are designed for severe storm observation and weather forecasting.
