"Forty copies were printed on Arches paper and numbered from 1 to 40"--Preliminary p. [4], in all copies. Ordinary copies (Gallup A25a) are printed on unwatermaked laid paper with vertical chainlines; the numbered copies (Gallup A25b) are printed on watermarked paper with horizontal chainlines.
Issued in red printed wrappers, with publisher's advertisement on back cover for "The inquest" (series of six works edited by Pound) and A practical guide to French wines, by William Bird; also two works "in preparation", Sixteen cantos of Ezra Pound and Distinguished air, by Robert McAlmon. Ordinary copies have cover price 10 Fr.; price omitted from numbered copies.
Numbered copies originally issued unsigned; some have the signature of Antheil, and some of both Antheil and Pound; see Gallup.
Some copies, on both papers, have the distributor's printed slip on the title page, tipped over the imprint: Contact Editions, 29, quai d'Anjou, Paris.
Collation: *⁴ 1-7⁸ [$1 signed]; 60 leaves, pp. [8 unnumbered (1-2 blank except for signature on 1)] [1-2] 3-106 [107-112 (108-112 blank)]. Internal omission of pagination not noted.
