Full-color facsimile of a manuscript book of the first theological-cosmological work of Hildegard of Bingen created in the monastery of Rupertsberg in 1175. The manuscript, decorated with 35 miniatures, was copied by four nuns from 1927-1936; the original was lost during the turmoil of World War II in 1945. Issued in full leather, decorated in blind; housed in a slip case. Published in an edition of 280 numbered copies, 181 copies (numbered 1-181) issued with the gold leaf reproduced with gold foil, 99 copies (numbered I-IC) issued with real (23 karat) gold leaf, with an additional 20 unnumbered copies produced.
