Hikari Baba, a young Japanese dancer and choreographer now resident in the United States, discusses aspects of her career both in Japan, where she danced with Mieko Fuji, and in the United States, where she studied at the Juilliard School with Billie Mahoney and others. She discusses the challenges of moving between two cultures, notes the experiences of her compatriot Tatsuo Mochizuki, and talks about her company, Baba Dancers. Mahoney screens an excerpt from a camera study she made of Baba for the International Congress on Movement Notation in 1984.
