Summary:
Oscar Pintor (b. Argentina 1941) is a photographer, graphic designer and creative advertising professional born in the Provincia de San Juan, located 1.200 km from Buenos Aires, in the border with Chile). He is the photographic advisor of the Centro Cultural Recoleta where he set up and directed until 1987 the permanent Fotoespacio at the center. "Oscar always remained faithful to what traditionally been called Direct Photography, that is to say, the literal recording of reality without subsequent manipulation of any kind. () The portraits and nudes can be classed in the same distant stylistic universe of his photographs of landscapes and corners. He is not attracted by the faces of people as the expressive and radiant center of the soul. One of the true close-ups in this book, a portrait of a profile in the shadows, omits the face - that is to say, that which is most distinctive and revealing of any individual - hiding it in the shadow, while showing us the rest of the head, indistinct and neutral. In his photos, people and their bodies are like parts of the environment rather than convergent focus of the image"--Page 206.
