Discusses the common law prohibition on the garnishment of Federal employees wages, and the exceptions permitting garnishment to enforce alimony or child support payments, division of Federal pensions between spouses, and withholding of Federal wages for employees in debt to the Government. Summarizes garnishment restrictions in the Consumer Credit Protection Act, and the associated due process requirements.
