a| This case involves a complex set of workplace factors: a dysfunctional workplace that permitted a failure of common sense in all the characters, faith group rights, the dignity and rights of the LGBTQ community, sexism, false claims of inappropriate sexual advances, and lying. Department Chair Jacqueline Kennedy Bailey is a devout Christian and a scholar of the Free Exercise Clause of the U.S. Constitution. She practices her faith at the workplace, unaware that a disgruntled colleague is manipulating a male student--who is gay--to get her into trouble, and unaware that the dean's daughter--a lesbian--is misreporting facts about Professor Bailey and, thereby, inappropriately influencing her father in making a workplace decision. When Professor Bailey offered to pray for the gay male and the dean's daughter, something went wrong, and her employment was in jeopardy. Now she must choose between suing her employer, and weighing the potential consequences of doing so, or taking a settlement offer and, like her predecessor, just leaving quietly and hoping for the best for her career and family.
