Summary:
A person, who is engaged in new construction or repairing of the wooden constructions, is called a Daemokjang. The term of 'Daemokjang' refers to an artisan working in carpentering and is derived from 'Mokjang' or 'Moksu(carpenter)'. Daemokjang participates and manages the entire process of construction from the initial stage to harden the ground, prepare lumber, and design the buildings to the completed stage. The today's concept of Daemokjang means the competent architect who can design and construct wooden architectures. Daemokjang has been safeguarded as a national cultural heritage since its designation of the 74th Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Korea in 1982. It is recognized by UNESCO as the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010"--Container
