This weekly literary miscellany, begun in June 1805 by Aaron Allworth[y] and Co., published essays, historical and biographical sketches, poetry, literary notices, and letters from the correspondence of well-known writers, along with much miscellaneous material. After only four months it was merged into the Merrimack magazine and ladies' literary cabinet, a similar magazine which had begun publication in August of 1805. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
