A brief account of the Second World War and an event to celebrate it, including speeches from generals and those involved. Khrushchev discusses West German aggression. Soldiers prepare a radar station in the desert for the 22nd Party Congress and the Pacific Fleet trains for anti-submarine warfare. Brezhnev hands out medals to army and air force generals. Soldiers have language lessons in anticipation of going to university after they have left the army. They also learn German. Officers go on walking holidays in the mountains. A squadron of Indonesian destroyers visits Vladivostok and is welcomed by the Soviet navy and the people.
